I get this question a lot! HOW and WHEN should we apply for our marriage license?? Here are a couple of links that I have found that has very detailed information on how to apply for your marriage license. I recommend you do it about 1-2 months before the big day! Also, remember to bring it with you to the rehearsal to give to your wedding coordinator or officiant. (We should take it and give it to them after the ceremony). Also, decide in advance the two witnesses that you want to sign the license after the ceremony.

Also, usually a couple of months after the wedding, I’ll get an email from my brides and grooms, asking, “When do we get our marriage license?”  At least a week after your marriage license is submitted to the recording office, you can order certified copies of your marriage license so that you can become official and change your last name (if you want to).
