Happy Earth Day Everyday!

Okay, so I know the official day was yesterday, but everyday should be earth day! Do you know the average wedding produces 14.2 tons of CO2? You don’t have to go hard core and know where the cotton for your bridesmaid dresses came from. Here are some easy things you can do to make your wedding a little more green. My motto, “keep it simple” Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.
1) Scour your family’s garage, swap meets, and thrift shops for some vintage (vintage is so IN right now) vases, jars, containers for your decor and centerpieces! You’ll be surprised what you find.

One of my favorite things! You can even do this for your home or office (vintage tea cans)

2) Reduce your carbon footprint: Send Save the Dates and Invitations online. Create just a few paper ones for guests that may not be so internet savvy. Also, create a couples website to keep guests up to date on your plans and where you are registered. They love reading about you, and it’s easy to obtain information, especially for destination weddings. This also will save you money! Check out these sites:
www.theknot.com for your couples website.
3) Consider wearing your mother’s dress (it’s definitely okay to make some changes!) or buying on second hand! I came across this website, www.preownedweddingdresses.com and found this gorgeous Monique Lluillier wedding dress…

4) Consider donating your wedding flowers. Most couples don’t have a clue what to do with the after the wedding, or the ones left behind by guests. If you are in San Diego, I always refer this wonderful organization, Blooms From The Heart, who re-assembles your flowers and recreate small arrangements and delivers them to local hospitals, hospice, and nursing homes. And, after they will email you pictures of the arrangements and let you know where they were delivered. It’s also tax deductible. Just the small things, makes the biggest difference.
